develop critical thinking and decision making skills
build positive mental health attitudes in children by enhancing their self-images and fostering appreciation of individual differences
develop an appreciation of the enjoyment and advantages of being fit
The main objectives in the Physical Education program are to develop:
an appreciation of active participation in sporting activities
the basic skills required for effective participation in a varied range of games and physical activities
a high level of sportsmanship
Sports
Students participate in regular skill training sessions arranged by the school and led by visiting sporting representatives from such organisations as the AIS, Hockey Association, Cricket Association and other sporting organisations. This is in addition to the skills training and games conducted as part of each classroom program. Junior students also attend Learn to Swim Programs. Fitness is encouraged through fitness runs and various other daily physical education activities.
Carnivals and 'Fun Days'
Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country Carnivals are organised during the year, as well as other physical education events. Our students compete in various Inter-School competitions and sporting activities, eg Netball, Rugby and Soccer.
Fun Activity days are also organised, to encourage active participation and interest in physical activities.
